About Margot

Margot's current artwork both embraces the detail and realism of Western portraiture tradition and flouts its expectations. Shedding a raking light on the underapreciated model is her vehicle to studying painting.

Following three decades in Minneapolis, Baltimore and New Haven, Margot now lives and paints in New York’s Hudson Valley, where she grew up in a family of ten. Her siblings are artists and engineers, and have inspired her lifelong practice of making things. She received her MFA from the Maryland Institute College of Art and her BA from the University of Minnesota.

Alongside painting, her practice has included sculpture, theater costuming, and exhibition preparation for a number of museums and galleries.

Since 2011, she has operated the Flying Rabbit Card Company, selling reproductions of her drawings and paintings as greeting cards.
